Health care professionals use them to view the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, liver, and other organs. Unlike x-rays, ultrasound does not involve exposure to radiation. At PMRID we offer both general and vascular ultrasound, however, we do not perform gynecological or obstetrical ultrasounds. You will be given specific instructions regarding the preparation of your ultrasound. Differeent types of ultrasound require different preps.
